Tirupati Tirumala is one of the most ancient and sacred temples in the world. Famed for being the richest temple in the world, the Tirupati Tirumal temple is also known for fulfilling the wishes of its devotees. The Hindus make it a point to visit this temple once in a lifetime for its sacredness and wish fulfilling power. It is believed, whosoever comes to this temple complex never return empty handed. The presiding deity of Tirupati is Sri Venkateswara (Lord of the Venkata Hill). The temple lies on the southern banks of Sri Swami Pushkarini; and is located on the seventh peak, Venkatachala (Venkata Hill) of the Tirupati Hill that has given him the appellation, Venkateswara. He is also called the Lord of the Seven Hills. The temple of Sri Venkateswara at Tirupati Tirumala has attained a unique sanctity in Indian religious belief. The Sastras, Puranas, Sthala Mahatyams and Alwar hymns unequivocally affirm that, in the Kali Yuga, one can attain moksha (salvation), only by worshipping Venkata Nayaka or Sri Venkateswara. |
