Tamil Nadu is predominantly known for its temple architecture. Lying on the Southern Penisula of India, Tamil Nadu has a long stretch of coastal line running over 900 kms. The Coromandel Coast, the connecting point of the main land and the Bay of Bengal, boasts many ultimate locations for sun, sand and surf. The beaches of Tamil Nadu are distinct and have their own appeal. You can find several fishing villages by the beach sides, which can give you an insight into the lifestyle of fisherman families in India. Finest Tamil Nadu beaches: In Tamil Nadu, you should not miss th e Marina Beach, even if you are here for some other activity. One of the longest in the world, the Marina Beach has a wide stretch of gleaming golden sands. The most advantageous point of this beach is, it is located in one of the major metropolises of India, Chennai, which is also the gateway to South India for both air and rail tourists. The front part of the beach has neatly trimmed landscaped. You can also sight some superb examples of Indo-Saracenic architecture such as the Madras University, the Chepauk Palace and the Presidency College. The beach is a welcome break from the usual city life for the locales. The evenings are very entertaining for the visitors. Kanyakumari or Cape Comorin prides in being surrounded by three seas, the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea, and the confluence is called 'Thriveni Sangamam'. Nestled at the southern tip of India's landmass, the Kanyakumari beach renders glorious view of the sunrise and sunset. Yet another unique feature of the beach here is its multicoloured sand. Kanyakumari is also a famous pilgrim centre, and visited by devout Hindus. The Vivekananda Rock Temple, set amidst the seclusion of the sea offers pleasurable view and is a perfect place for meditation. |
